Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Movcl is provided by Movcl Technology Co., Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong ("Movcl", "we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy, which applies to the Movcl apps for Android and iOS, to movcl.com, and to support you receive from us.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

• Photos you upload to create images or videos, and the creations generated from them.
• Text you write, such as instructions for a custom edit or a video prompt.
• Invitation codes you enter or share.
• Messages you send us, including your email address if you contact support.

Information collected automatically

• Account and device data: an account identifier created by the app for your device, device model, operating system and app version, language, country, and IP address.
• Usage data: screens you view, features and templates you use, generations you start and their results, purchases, and how you interact with ads and notifications.
• Notification data: a push-notification token and whether notifications are enabled.
• App integrity data: a verdict from Google Play Integrity (Android) or Apple DeviceCheck (iOS) confirming the app is genuine and running on a real device, used to prevent fraud.
• Advertising data (Android): your device's advertising ID, ad impressions and clicks, and your consent choices for ads.
• Install attribution: how you found Movcl, for example the invitation link or ad that led to your install.

Purchases

Purchases are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We receive order and subscription details, such as what you bought and when, but never your payment card details.

3. How we use information

• To provide Movcl: generate your creations, keep your library in sync, deliver purchases and gems, and send notifications you've allowed. (Performance of our contract with you.)
• To keep Movcl safe: screen uploads for unsafe content, prevent fraud and abuse of free gems and invitations, and enforce our Terms. (Our legitimate interests and legal obligations.)
• To improve Movcl: understand which features work, fix problems and develop new templates. (Our legitimate interests, or your consent where the law requires it.)
• To show and measure ads in the free Android app, and to measure our own marketing. (Your consent where required, otherwise our legitimate interests.)
• To support you when you contact us. (Performance of our contract and our legitimate interests.)
• To comply with law and respond to lawful requests. (Legal obligation.)

4. Your photos and AI processing

When you create something, the photos you upload and any text you write are processed as follows:

• Stored securely on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Screened by an automated content-moderation service (Amazon Rekognition) that checks images for unsafe content such as nudity or violence. It does not identify people.
• Sent to third-party AI model providers who generate the image or video you asked for. They receive only what is needed for that generation.
• Shown back to you in your library, where you can download, share or delete the result.

We don't use facial recognition, we don't create biometric identifiers from your photos, and we don't use your photos to identify you. We don't sell your photos or use them for advertising. Photos may include other people; please only upload photos you have the right to use, as our Terms of Service explain.

5. Community showcase

Movcl has an optional community showcase that displays AI-generated images publicly in the app and on Movcl's marketing surfaces.

• Opt-in only. Nothing of yours is shared unless you turn sharing on, in the in-app prompt or in Account settings.
• Anonymous. Showcase items are displayed without a username, avatar or other identifier.
• Reviewed. Submissions are reviewed by Movcl staff before they're published.
• Engagement. Like and view counts are aggregated to surface popular items.
• Withdrawal. Turn sharing off at any time in Account settings; your previously approved items are hidden from the showcase immediately.

We don't sell your personal information for money. We share it only as described here:

These providers process information under their own privacy policies and, where applicable, their agreements with us.

7. Advertising

The free version of the Movcl Android app shows ads from the networks listed above. They may use your advertising ID, device information, approximate location derived from your IP address, and your interactions with ads to show and measure ads. Where the law requires, we ask for your consent first, and you can change your choice at any time in Account → Privacy Settings.

To limit personalized ads, reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads). Ads still appear, but are no longer personalized. The iOS app doesn't show ads; if it asks to track, you can decline, or change it later in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

8. International transfers

Movcl is based in Hong Kong, and our service providers operate in other countries, including the United States and mainland China. Your information may be processed in countries whose data protection laws differ from yours. Where the law requires, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.

9. How long we keep information

• Usage events in our own logs are kept for about 30 days.
• Photos and creations are kept until you delete them. When you delete a creation, it's removed from your library on all your devices and its files are deleted from our servers.
• Account data is deleted within 30 days of a verified deletion request.
• Purchase records are kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require.
• Information held by third parties, such as analytics and ad networks, is kept according to their own policies.

10. Your choices and rights

In the app

• Delete any creation from your library.
• Turn showcase sharing on or off in Account settings.
• Turn notifications off in your device settings.
• Change your ad consent in Account → Privacy Settings, where offered.

By request

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, including deleting your account and all its creations, email support@movcl.com and include the Customer ID shown at the bottom of the Account page, so we can find your account. We respond within 30 days, free of charge.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

California residents

California law gives you the right to know, delete and correct your personal information, and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. We don't sell personal information for money. To opt out of ad-related sharing, use the advertising controls in section 7 or contact us. We won't discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

11. Children

Movcl is not intended for children under 13, or under the minimum age required to consent to data processing where you live. We don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has used Movcl, contact us and we will delete their information.

12. Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit, access restricted to authorized staff, secured cloud infrastructure and regular backups. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Movcl changes. We'll post the new version here with a new "Last updated" date, and tell you in the app or by other means before significant changes take effect.
